About Jeffery

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Adoption Fee: $175
  • Species: Dog
  • Current Age: 9 Years 5 Months (best estimate)

Jeffery...overcoming neglect with a smile and a wagging tail.

Some dogs are born with every advantage. They are a breed people love...not one terribly misunderstood. They are adopted to people who love them... Not chained, wounded, ignored and mistreated.

Dogs like Jeffery make me want to be a better person.  A person who doesn't make excuses....who lives in the moment.  He literally limps through life...constantly handed lemons only to JOYOUSLY make lemon-aid over and over again. Scarred with chemical burns, nerve wounds from the circulation being cut off to his foot, healed scars from a harness actually growing IN to his flesh....Jeffery holds NO ill will. He loves people. He trusts everyone. He only wants to be loved....snuggled....to play and be someone's best friend.

Unfortunately there are still some unknowns in Jefferys life.  Although he has feeling in a few of his toes, his leg is still mostly nonfunctional at this time. In some cases, if their is no improvment, dogs in his situation actually do better as an amputee.  We continue to assess him regularly for any hint of Improvment.  We want what's best for Jeffery....we hope that will be life on 4 legs but we will make whatever call is in his best interest and we know that, just like every other bump in the road, he will adapt and thrive.

Jeffery is available only to local adopters at this time so we can continue to assess him. It would be considered a "foster to adopt". Do you need a little lemon aide on your life. Meet Jeffery....we promise you will fall in love.

This dogs doption fee is 175 which covers the following: spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing, dhp/p, rabies, bordatella (agre appropriate vaccines), deworming, and all the care he received while with CVRR.  All animals are on flea and tick and parasite prevention for the duration in fostercare. We are an volunteer group, who process the applications so please be patient and  understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions.   You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone and email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process .    We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the dog  picks you too.  If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee and an adoption contract to be signed.  The adoption fees help cover a portion of the care provided to the animals. All dogs and pups are microchipped and all animals adopted out are spayed/neutered and fully vetted. **All of our animals have a lifetime commitment. If for any reason, the adoption does not work out, the cats and dogs are to come back to CVRR, which is a NO kill rescue.*** The foster family and the rescue volunteers will choose the new home based on the best fit for the dog/cat.

Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/.

The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care.

Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy.

We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter.

CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract.

CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it.
