If America's Top Model were looking for a dog, Violet has it all. The swagger, the looks, this girl turns heads wherever we go. On top of it, she has the sweetest, gentlest disposition to boot. She is gentle with kids; in fact, dotes on them. Violet is half husky, half Great Pyrenees with one blue eye and one brown eye. She lives in her foster home with a 2 and a 4-year-old and the patience of a saint. Violet's confidence is built off other dogs, so ideally we would love her placed in a home with another friend. She is reportedly aggressive with cats; I have yet to see this type of behavior from her with anything, but she does give chase to animals in the backyard so I think a cat *might* be okay if it isn't scared and running from her. Violet just turned 1 in august so she is still VERY much a puppy, and with that comes the chewing. Violet is crate trained but cannot have bedding or stuffed toys as she likes to eat and ingest them. She is fine around the house when we are home and under observation.
Violet isn't a fan of stairs or leash walking. She fell down stairs one time, and has been fearful since. This can likely be overcome with lots of confidence building, trust building, and training. If you prefer a downstairs dog or one that does not go into upstairs bedrooms, she's perfect.
Violet is high energy and needs an outlet. She would greatly benefit from an active family that keeps her moving, a playmate, or daily doggie daycare. She is incredibly gentle, and does not jump on people, or furniture.
Violet's caveat to her beauty: she barks. She barks a LOT. I know you're thinking, "oh dogs bark, it's what they do." No, Violet is next level. She has been with the foster family for 4 months and barks at the family movement while they are upstairs, downstairs, in between stairs. Your teenagers won't be able to sneak out of the house without the entire neighborhood knowing with this little lady. As such, Violet is not an appropriate dog for apartment/condo-type living. The foster family is in a townhome and if the attached homes make any noise, Violet is letting it be known to the world. It isn't excessive to the point a family cannot live their lives in peace; but if barking is something that bothers you or your family she is not the pup for you.
If those few things can be accommodated and/or worked on in your home, then Violet is the most loving, caring, sweetest thing and would make you and your family very very happy. Please fill out an application and we can set up a meet and greet! *Located in VA Beach
*The adoption fee for this dog is $175

Special Needs: High anxiety, Chewer
Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/. The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care. Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy. We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter. CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract. CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it.
