Meet Artie!! Artie is a very special shepherd husky mix. He came from a hoarding situation with about 15 other dogs and since coming out of the shelter and into his foster home, he has blossomed into his full blown puppy personality! We are looking for a very specific home for this very special boy. We fully believe he has been able to flourish due to the other dogs in the home, so another playmate for Artie is a must. Artie likes to play rough, so a dog his size or bigger would be best. Small dogs are not recommended as his personality is very strong and can be overwhelming. Due to this, and the typical husky prey drive, cats are also not recommended. Artie's foster home has children of multiple ages, but Artie has had to stay separated from them. They move quickly and are loud, and aren't his cup of tea. We would prefer a home without children, or with older, respectful, high school age children. We are still working on leash manners with Artie. He likely never saw one nor had a collar around his neck before now, so we are easing him into that idea. A 6 foot privacy fence is non negotiable with him; he likes his freedom. He is incredibly smart; so we are hoping before long, walks will be a thing he will learn to love. Artie may be an older puppy, but he is still VERY much a puppy. He chews everything. If it moves in the wind, he chews it. If it has a smell, he chews it. He also thinks counters and tabletops are his oyster, and helps himself at any and every turn. Artie will need continued training and a very watchful eye to ensure he doesn't ingest something he shouldnt - or chew up your favorite pair of shoes. The plus side? Artie loves his crate. LOVES it. It is his safe space. He naps in there, eats in there, chews his bones in there. Artie has not once soiled his crate, nor has he once had an inside accident. His foster has been very diligent in making sure he has frequent potty breaks though. Artie has a ton of potential as an absolutely amazing dog. He has come so far from the shut down shelter puppy that we pulled a few weeks ago. We are hoping his new family will continue with the love, training, and time he needs to be the best boy he can be. Breed experience a plus (and preferred) - this boy is all husky. If you are up for the Artie challenge, please apply!!
*This dogs adoption fee is $250
More about Artie
Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/. The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care. Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy. We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter. CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract. CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it.
