What a sweetie!! Bear came into our care on 8/11 and has already won the hearts of his foster family. He was surrendered to a shelter and wasn't doing well there. Since being in the foster home, he has exhibited a great little personality. He gets excited when the fosters come home from work and is happy to be a lap dog. He does well with other dogs and the resident cat. Bear loves to take walks around the neighborhood. He will make someone a great companion.
UPDATE: After being in the foster home for a week, Bear loves to chase the resident cat if she is on the floor, He doesn't try to catch or harm her but she makes it clear he is annoying. Bear and the two resident dogs get along well unless Bear is in his foster mom's lap. He will growl at the other two if they get too close--the 77lb hound is not thrilled with that behavior. Bear loves to be held and loves to sleep on the back of the sofa or on the carpet on the floor. He prefers to sleep WITH his owner but can be trained not to. He is still adapting and has a great little personality.
Bear is 3 years old and weighs 19 pounds. He is a JRT mix and has the prettiest eyes. :)
Our first step is an application which can be filled out at: www.cvrrescue.org
The adoption fee for this dog is $200.00 which helps to cover a portion of the care provided, including: spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing, deworming, age appropriate vaccinations: DHLP/P, Bordetella, Rabies, and any medical care received while with CVRR. All animals are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care.
CVRR is a nonprofit organization, we have no paid staff. Applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks and follow-up questions. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone and email info for all your references.
Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the dog picks you too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee and an adoption contract to be signed. The adoption fee helps to cover a portion of the care provided to the animals. By the time of adoption all dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vetting.
CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal is to be returned to CVRR. We will re-evaluate and choose a new home based on the best fit for that particular animal.

Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/. The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care. Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy. We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter. CVRR is a nonprofit organization.
