--------Luke is a 60 pound 1 and a half year old sweetheart mixed breed dog. Mother is known possibly a chocolate lab mix. Father was unknown but possibly a beagle or rottie mix.

Luke is a great dog with an awesome personality, he still has lots of puppy traits so will require an active home with time to

invest in exercise and play. We think he might be well suited for a family with older kids who are sturdy as he can be rambunctious in his joy. Like many youngsters he can be mouthy in his play.   He does very well with other dogs and LOVES the dog park. He and the cat get along but, he is a puppy and can get on the cats nerves with trying to play.

He knows how to sit, shake each paw, is house-broken, crate trained, slowly getting better on a lead - we have to use a gentle leader because he still gets VERY excited when he sees other dogs. He is a great guard dog and doesn't really bark at people unless it's after dark and someone comes to the door. He likes to go on short runs and hikes with us and has been good when we take him camping. He also really really just wants ALL of your attention all the time and would do well with someone who just enjoys lounging on the couch and rubbing his belly with his head in your lap.

He still has a tendency to chew up things regardless of how many toys he has so crating and keeping tempting items away are a necessity

He will come with a hard crate, a soft crate, a couple toys, pet bed, lots of treats, probiotics, a furminator brush, Railyard Dawgs collar, a leash or two plus a harness and a gentle leader.

Our first step is an application which can be filled out at:   www.cvrrescue.org

The adoption fee for this dog is $175.00 which helps to cover a portion of the care provided, including: spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing, deworming, age appropriate vaccinations: DHLP/P, Bordetella, Rabies, and any medical care received while with CVRR.  All animals are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care.

CVRR is a nonprofit organization, we have no paid staff. Applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks and follow-up questions.   You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone and email info for all your references.

Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the dog picks you too.  If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee and an adoption contract to be signed.  The adoption fee helps to cover a portion of the care provided to the animals.   By the time of adoption all dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vetting.

CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out the animal is to be returned to CVRR.   We will re-evaluate and choose a new home based on the best fit for that particular animal.

A note about puppies:  Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal energetic puppy issues such as jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness, until they are trained.  If you are having puppy issues please feel free to contact us, we are happy to give you guidance.  Because this is a mixed breed we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or you are looking for an ideal weight we don’t recommend applying for this puppy (you can always check out the adult dogs whose weights we do know).
