Rufus is brand new to our care. He is a yorkie mix, not quite a year old (10/2019 DOB).  He will be neutered on 7/20 and have an x-ray/evaluation of his hips. He is sensitive (growls but doesn’t bite) when touched on his back end and we want to make sure there is no medical reason for the behavior. We were told he is a bit scrappy with young children (by previous owner) so we are recommending a household with older children who understand boundaries.  We are also working on housetraining.  He is about 12-15 lbs. Personality wise he is very cuddly and playful.  He was a little shy when meeting us but never tried to bite when we handled and vaccinated him, or with my kids when he met them.

The adoption fee for this dog is $250.00 which helps to cover a portion of the care provided, including: spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing, deworming, age appropriate vaccinations: DHLP/P, Bordetella, Rabies, and any medical care received while with CVRR.  All animals are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care.

CVRR is a nonprofit organization, we have no paid staff. Applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks and follow-up questions.   You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone and email info for all your references.  

Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the dog picks you too.  If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee and an adoption contract to be signed.  The adoption fee helps to cover a portion of the care provided to the animals.   By the time of adoption all dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vetting.

CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal is to be returned to CVRR.   We will re-evaluate and choose a new home based on the best fit for that particular animal.

If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy.

We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter.
