Rocky is a sweetie BUT he has had seizures in his past.  Until recently, he has NOT been on medication. Rocky has been seizure-free since beginning his medications on Monday, May 18.  Currently, he is on two meds and their total cost is around $15.  Possible adjustment to a single medication and the cost is $7 per month.

Rocky was on a 10-day quarantine because he bit the person who was trying to subdue him since he was at-large in his neighborhood.  We saw that the shelter life was causing him anguish and brought him into our care.  It has taken Rocky a couple of weeks to adjust to his foster home.  He was confused and afraid and lashed out a couple of times out of fear.  (No biting, but a fit confusion.) It will take a CALM, PATIENT, and UNDERSTANDING family to help Rocky live his best life and be the best companion.  It takes time to build a bond.  His foster mom can pick him up with no issues.  We recommend a home WITHOUT small children and without bossy dogs.  He gets nervous around a lot of chaos, especially if he doesn't know the people or animals in the room.

When we went to the groomer today, he was friendly with her and the staff!!  It all depends on the calmness of the room.  They loved him.

Rocky loves wet food and treats.  He enjoys a good nap at the foot of the bed or beside the older children in the current foster home.  He simply needs love and attention.  If you are willing to be patient and let him learn your house (and you), then please consider applying for him.

Our first step is an application which can be filled out at:   www.cvrrescue.org

The adoption fee for this dog is $200.00 which helps to cover a portion of the care provided, including: spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing, deworming, age appropriate vaccinations: DHLP/P, Bordetella, Rabies, and any medical care received while with CVRR.  All animals are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care.

CVRR is a nonprofit organization, we have no paid staff. Applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks and follow-up questions.   You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone and email info for all your references.

Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the dog picks you too.  If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee and an adoption contract to be signed.  The adoption fee helps to cover a portion of the care provided to the animals.   By the time of adoption all dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vetting.

CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal is to be returned to CVRR.   We will re-evaluate and choose a new home based on the best fit for that particular animal.

Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/.

The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care.

Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy.

We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter.

You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully.
