6/2/19 Update: Why is this poor girl dragging 30ft of leash when no one even bothers to hold the other end!? This is not how to use a training lead but for my own peace of mind I keep this thing around with her just in case, since my yard is not fenced. So far it hasn’t been necessary to use it, she loves tennis balls and chasing them. She is thrilled to hang out and chase, always returning to my feet to gnaw on the ball. Josie LOVES people, especially *her* people. Unfortunately she does not love anything else on four legs so we are looking for just the right family to love her. Are you looking for a loyal companion to be your ONLY pet? This is what Josie is waiting for-maybe you’re the one!
Update - Josie is a really sweet girl who is really devoted to her people. She was adopted last year but recently found herself back in foster care because her human is having health issues. She does have a lot of energy and loves to play so she would love to join a family that likes to hike, go running or have adventures. She's house trained but not a fan of being crated, it stresses her out. She does fine in a fenced in yard though.
Her only minor quirk that leaves her waiting in foster care is she needs to be an only dog. She loves her people and wants all the love and belly rubs for herself. If you really, really love fetch then Josie is the girl for you. She loves a good game of fetch and afterwards just wants to cuddle up on the couch with you. She is undoubtedly the most loving dog I've fostered in a while. She just has so much love to give. She doesn't want any other animals around to get in the way of her sharing. Are you a one dog kind of family? Josie's got enough love to go around and she loves kids too.
Josie has a lot of potential but will need a family with patience and a firm hand to train her. She is loving but plays very roughly. She did not care for her crate at first but has come a long way and is almost completely crate and house trained. She will need some vigilance in this area until she totally gets the hang of it.
This dogs adoption fee is $25 which covers the following: spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing, dhp/p, rabies, bordatella (agre appropriate vaccines), deworming, and all the care he received while with CVRR. Like all puppies, adopters can expect any puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal energetic puppy issues (jumping, mouthing, general youthful naughtiness). Because this is a guess of breed mixture, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or you are looking for an ideal weight we don’t recommend applying for this puppy (you can always check out the adult dogs whose weight we do know).
We are a volunteer group who process the applications so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone and email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.
We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the dog picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee and an adoption contract to be signed. The adoption fees help cover a portion of the care provided to the animals. All Dogs and cats adopted out are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, and microchipped.

Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/. The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care. Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy. We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter. CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract. CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it.
