Maggie Jay Is a 6 yr old, spayed female, smooth coated, just under 5lbs, very sweet chihuahua. She doesn't fit into the normal tales you may hear about the chihuahua breed. She has a very sweet disposition, can be fearful or timid of things or people she doesn't know, but even in fear she has never bitten nor attempted to bite. She loves women and can be skiddish of men until she gets to know them. Good with cats and other dogs. Has experience with dogs of all sizes, and does quite well. She is very healthy, recently vet checked and current on all vaccines and heartworm prevention. She does have slipping patellas (kneecaps), but was xrayed and examined by an orthopedic specialist who said he did not feel she needed surgery and felt as long as she maintained good muscle form in her back legs, they would hold in place for her very well and because she doesn't display being in any pain. She loves to "bounce" literally straight up and down like the cartoon Tigger. She is youthful, very healthy, and lively. She loves to run and play, but also to snuggle and cuddle. She completed a couple obedience classes, has been socialized, walks well on harness, she knows many words and phrases, rides well, and is house trained but also piddle pad trained in case left for lengthy times or when too dangerous to go outside (bad weather, hawks, predators, loud noises that may scare her etc). She has been in the same home since 7-9 weeks old, she was rescued from a puppymill but the current owners have a life change that has left them no choice but to rehome her.

We think she would love a semi-retired or retired person or someone that is home a lot or could take her with them places. She is probably not a good fit for small children as she is tiny and a fragile structure herself. Maggie Jay has so much love to give and is hoping someone will fall in love with her sweet and sunny disposition.

This dogs doption fee is $175 which covers the following: spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing, dhp/p, rabies, bordatella (agre appropriate vaccines), deworming, and all the care he received while with CVRR.  All animals are on flea and tick and parasite prevention for the duration in fostercare. We are an volunteer group, who process the applications so please be patient and  understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions.   You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone and email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process .    We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the dog  picks you too.  If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee and an adoption contract to be signed.  The adoption fees help cover a portion of the care provided to the animals. All dogs and cats are microchipped and all animals adopted out are spayed/neutered and fully vetted. **All of our animals have a lifetime commitment. If for any reason, the adoption does not work out, the cats and dogs are to come back to CVRR, which is a NO kill rescue.*** The foster family and the rescue volunteers will choose the new home based on the best fit for the dog/cat.

Our first step is an application which can be filled out at www.cvrrescue.org

Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/.

The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care.

Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy.

We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter.

CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract.

CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it.
